One Crazy Summer!

I know! I know! It's been a long time since I've posted anything. It's been a crazy month. I get home and just want to get to sleep...and if I do have energy, I want to get the last little organizational projects done before the baby. But, today, I decided to get this done.

First, Addison was in swimming lessons this summer. She loved them! She is now sticking her head under water for 10 seconds in the bath tub and wants to be one her own with her floaties whenever we go swimming. Here is her kicking at swimming lessons.
She LOVES jumping in the water--even if I am not looking. She doesn't seem to mind to go fully under water-just as long as she comes back up. Here she is jumping into her teacher's arms.


Here is her holding up her Swimming Advancement Certificate.She finished her dance "season" right around the time that swimming started. Needless to say, I am so glad that it is over. I am not cut out to be a "dance mom". Because Brett is still out of a job....and the fact that dance is expensive and time consuming, Addison will not be continuing in dance. Instead she wants to try Gymnastics. It costs less, so we will see if we can squeeze it in the budget.

Not only did Addison dance her little heart out at the end of June, but she danced a tooth right out as well. Here are some pictures of Addison and her 2nd lost tooth.
For the 4th of July, we went to Idaho for a family reunion. We had a lot of fun with my cousins from my dad's side of the family. At the end of the fun, Addison went to Casper, Wyoming (Brett and I's hometown) with her Nanna and Pa Howard (my parents). She had a lot of fun while there. She was there for about a week. Brett was able to go up to pick her up. It was so strange to be away from her. I really missed her! It was really strange for Brett and I to drive in the car and not have her in the back seat.

While in Casper, Addison went to Garden Creek Falls with her Stagg Cousins. Here are some picutres of her at the falls.





She was also able to visit Brett's parents. Here is a picture of her with Grandma and Grandpa Stagg and her Uncle Ben (Brett's brother).

On their way home, Brett and Addison stopped by Martin's Cove. Casper is only 50 miles away from this Historic Pioneer area. The Casper Stake was asked to help with getting the area ready for dedication. Brett and I were able to be apart of cleaning up the Cove to get it ready for it's dedication by President Hinkley in 1997. I had a great, great, great grandma in the Martin handcart company. So, Martin's Cove has a special meaning to me. We really haven't been back since then. Brett was excited to go back and Addison enjoyed it. Here are some pictures of her pulling a hand cart.

With Brett not working, he and Addison have been able to go out and do some fun things. One of those things was the 24th of July Parade in Ogden. Addison had a good time, but was disappointed that there wasn't a lot of candy. When we were in Idaho for the 4th of July, we went to the parade in Ashton, ID and they had a TON of candy. I think she still had fun despite that. :)



So, with me getting closer to delivery, my place of work threw me a baby shower. I asked Brett if he and Addison would like to come into SLC for it. I thought it would be fun--more so for Addison than Brett. :) So, they headed into Salt Lake and hit some construction traffic. Everyone slammed on their breaks. Unfortunately, the person behind Brett couldn't get his pick-up stopped in time and rear-ended Brett. Brett and Addison were okay. They didn't get hit very hard, however it gouged out some of the back bumper and it dented the trunk. The guy's insurance that hit us has been great. They got the car in and got Brett a rental car. They found that there was about $1200 worth of damage done! Who would have thought that a little rear-ender would cost that much. I guess it doesn't help that we were in a little Civic and he was in a pick-up truck. I am just very gratful that Brett and Addison are okay and that no other damage was done.
So, onto other news. Brett still hasn't been able to find a job yet. He has been getting more interviews, which is very encouraging. We are just trying to have the faith that things will work out and he will find something. I am very grateful that we are financially prepared for this and so it hasn't been as stressful as it could be. He has some freelance prospects, so we are hoping that something comes from that.

I am almost in my 38th week. I am ready to not throw up each day and to be able to eat. The end is near. Now I am getting nervous....we have no idea what to call the baby. We have some names, but none that jump out at me. I guess she will have to be born for us to decide.

Addison will be starting 1st grade next week! I can't believe she is that big. She is excited. She will also be celebrating her 6th birthday this weekend as well. Whoever said that time stands still when you are young and then speeds up when you get older was right. Brett and I have been married for 11 1/2 years and Addison has been with us for 6 years of that. It seems like she has always been with us.

Well, there is probably a lot of things that I have left out, but I will not bore you further with all the mundane aspects of our life. Good bye for now. :)

This....that...and the other....

Addison had the opportunity to participate in a dance competition at Lagoon. Her dance class performed a cute dance to the "Oompa Loompa" song from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. They did a great job. She was able to get a cute dance crystal trophy. Here is Addison in her outfit with the other girls in her class.

After she danced (it was in the morning), we were able to (well, Brett and Addison were able to) go and play on the rides. Addison, to my surprise, wanted to go on The Bat. She ended up going on it twice. She really liked it. Here is Brett and Addison getting ready to go on the ride.
Because I couldn't ride any rides, Addison was able to ride a lot of the kiddy rides she wanted to. Brett was able to go on some of his rides too. Addison had a lot of fun and really enjoyed herself. We ended up leaving when it started pouring in the afternoon. It was a great day and a lot of fun.Not only were we able to have fun at Lagoon this month, but Brett was able to get some stuff done around the house. Below are the pictures of the baby's room. We decided on purple...not a huge fan of pink. Brett did a great job painting.

My mom is going to make the curtains, crib skirt and bumper pad. I think butterflies will be cute, so that is what we are doing. Still have a lot of things to do....but at least the baby can sleep on the floor in a painted room. :) I have a little over 10 weeks left with the pregnancy. The baby is really moving now....and no, we don't have any names picked out yet.

We were also able to finally get the concrete poured over the weed patch to the north of the house. This will help with the water and the foundation and not to mention get rid of those ugly obnoxious weeds.

Brett still hasn't found a job yet. He did have a promising interview, but nothing as of yet. We still have faith that something will present itself. Brett went to the LDS unemployment office last week and was able to do a 2 day seminar on networking, resume writing, interviewing and other job seeking techniques. He's had a lot of friends and family sending his resume around and for that we are grateful.

We are going to Idaho for a cousin reunion on my dad's side of the family for the 4th of July. We will be able to camp outside in the back yard. Addison is excited to run around, get dirty and have fun. I have a lot of memories visiting Grandma Howard's and my cousins....I am excited to go back.

Where, oh where did Addison's tooth go?!

It's finally happened. Addison lost her first tooth! The tooth was pretty loose and she was eating watermelon and said that she couldn't eat anymore because it hurt. Brett looked at her tooth and sure enough, it was very wobbly. We got some string and tied it around the tooth and I wiggled it back and forth. Finally I gave it a hard tug and POP! Out it came. She decided to not put it under her pillow for the tooth fairy quite yet. She wanted to take it for her last show-and-tell of the year. It is hard to believe how big she is getting!

Addison will finish her Kindergarten year on June 5th. Boy has the year flown by.

I am now 27 weeks...just 13 left to go. We started painting the baby's room and started getting some of the things together. I need to get the clothes out and air them out.

Brett is still searching for a job and getting his honey-do list done. :)

What's Happening on the Stagg Front

April was a busy month for us. Addison had a lot of dance performances as well as spring break. I was able to take the week off of work and stay home with her. Spring break kicked off with Addison performing at a Utah Jazz Game. Here are some pictures from the Jazz game she performed at on Friday, April 3rd.

Addison really started getting into cheering towards the end of the game...once the sugar started to kick in. :) In the background here is Andrew Smith. Andrew and Aaron Smith (our neighbors) came with us to the game.


The next day after the Jazz game performace, she had a performance at the University of Utah. Here she is posing for the camera.

After all that performing fun, Addison's Aunt Trish and cousin Lincoln came to visit. Trish went back to Boise and left Lincoln with us. My mom also came down to help watch Lincoln with us. We had a lot of fun. The first day, we went to the Tree House Museum. They both had a blast! Here are some pictures.

Lincoln found a bridge and absolutely loved running up and over it. He even stopped long enough to pose for a picture.

We not only went to the Treehouse Museum, but Addison really wanted to go to Chuck E Cheeses one night for dinner....so we took her. This was my first experience...and I am thinking perhaps my last (at least for a while). It was crazy, but Addison had a lot of fun and I am pretty sure Lincoln did too. Here is Addison crawling around in one of the tube things there.At the end of that week, we drove Lincoln back to his mom and dad in Boise. It was a lot of fun and Addison was sad that she had to leave. We are planning to go back to Boise in May for Trish's graduation (my sister-in-law). Addison is excited to see Lincoln again.

Two weekends later, Addison had a competition at Roy High School. They took 1st in their division. Addison was able to go up and get the trophy for her team. Here is a picture with one of her team mates and the trophy. All the girls got an individual award. Addison really liked that one.
Onto Our Other News:

So, we had some sadness in the Stagg household this past week. Addison's goldfish, Mila, died. I think Addison was sad for a couple of hours.....then she was over it. Brett held a little toilet-side funeral service and Addison flushed her away. Honestly, I can't believe the goldfish lived for as long as it did. I think we figured it was almost a year! Addison really cared for the goldfish. She propped a book up behind the fish tank so the fish would have a book to read. She would change the pages when she would remember. We will miss our little Mila fish.

In regards to the pregnancy, it's still the same. I still feel sick, but I think my body has come to accept it...no need to fight it. :) I am now 23 weeks along. Still no names yet. I figure we still have some time.

Brett lost his job on Wednesday. I took it a lot worse than he did. He is quite relieved, actually. It has been a really bad work environment for some time now. We will just keep the faith that things will be alright and we will be taken care of. It's great to have such a great family and great neighbors. They have been very supportive.

Addison will be starting swim lessons in June and is looking forward to it. Brett has also been working with Addison's Kindergarten class to make an art project for the school's annual fund raiser/art auction. She is also excited that Daddy is going to be staying home with her for a little while. I am too...now some of those long-neglected projects can get done. ;)

20-week ultrasound with baby #2....

We went to the ultrasound this morning for my 20 week checkup. Addison and Brett were both able to come. The technician was awesome and showed us all sorts of things from the heart, to the kidneys, to the blood flow in and out of the umbilical chord....technology will never cease to amaze me. The technician also checked the spine, heart, brain, organs and face for any issues. She and the doctor said the baby looks great. Oh, and I guess we did find out what we are having. It's a girl!! Addison is so excited to be able to dress her up and help do her hair....and probably makeup. Brett is excited, but now is totally out numbered! I think I want the baby's room purple or green....trying to stay away from pink as much as possible, being that I am not a huge fan of it (sorry Terra).

My mom, my sister, Brett and I were sitting around the kitchen table last week talking about names. My mom was talking only about boy names, which prompted Brett to say, "you know since we are only talking about boy names, it will be a girl"....looks like he was right. So, no girl names as of yet. Addison has given suggestions such as Ali, Fairy, Ella, Princess......we will need to refine these a bit.

According to all the measurements, I am still due August 30th. Now I have 20 weeks to get things ready....and Brett has 20 weeks to hopefully find a better job. :)

Thank you all for your prayers. Each baby is such a miracle. I am especially grateful, that there is nothing at this point for us to worry about. The baby looks healthy and looks like all her parts are in tact. :)

What we've been doing--March edition

Addison has been pretty busy this March. Her cousins Hannah and JJ came to visit from Casper. These are Brett's sister's kids. They came during their spring break. While they were here, Addison wanted to go to the Aerospace Museum at Hill Airforce Base. Here is a picture of Addison and her cousin Hannah.
Here is a picture of Addison, Hannah and JJ. Addison LOVED having Hannah here. She doesn't get a lot of opportunity to play with girls, so to have one here was great for Addison. Brett and I had to work on the Friday they were here. Kristin kept Addison at the house and she and Hannah played all day (except when Addison was at school). Hannah slept in Addison's room at night--it was a fun sleepover. Addison was very sad to have Hannah leave. She continually asks when Hannah will be back.

In school, Addison has been doing a reading program. She has been doing very well. She reads two books a week and once she reads 14 of them, she gets a coupon for a free pizza. She has been very excited to read and at getting the coupon.

Addison has been working hard at dance to prepare for performing at the Utah Jazz pregame show in April. Addison's dance was also given the opportunity to perform at a local company's 1st birthday celebration. It was a good dress rehersal for when they would have to perform at the Jazz game.

At the birthday celebration, Spiderman came. Addison wasn't able to see him when he initially came, but she wanted to see him after she preformed. Here is a picture of him.

Addison also started soccer today. I had thought that when we signed her up it was only for the fall. As it turns out, it is for the fall and the spring. So we got a call from her coach last night telling us Addison had a game today. I couldn't believe it. Luckily the game was after Addison's dance performance. She was excited to play.

I had another doctor appointment this week. I am now 18 weeks. I will go in on April 13th to my ultra-sound and we decided to find out what it will be. Addison is excited to come and see the baby while it is still in my tummy.

I am done with my soccer teams and several women in our ward are joining a rec volleyball team. It will be fun to play again. It has been a while.

So, that's about it for March. Addison will have a busy April. She will be performing at the Jazz game, performing in a competition at the University of Utah, and performing at a competition at Roy High School. I will be sure to try and get video and of course pictures. :)

Not much to report....

This week I am 15 weeks.....almost 16!! It feels like it is going SOOOO slow. I am still not feeling so great, but have come to accept it and trying to find ways to deal with it. My doctor gave me Zofran and Phenegran. They help a little, but they are not the miracle drugs I thought they would be. :( I go in for my big ultra-sound on April 13th. That's when they do all the measurements and I think we will find out the sex of the baby. I am a planner....what can I say?

Addison was able to be in a play for school. The Kindergarten classes put on the play for the school and their parents. It was very cute. It was called "Leo the Longhorn". They are also learning about cowboys right now, so they did some songs about cowboys and square danced. Addison was a singer and dancer. She sang several songs and she did the square dance. It is so cute to see her up there. I still have a hard time believing she will be 6 this year! Time goes way too fast. She has started a reading program at school. She brings home a reader 2X a week. She loves reading them to us before bedtime. She has become quite the little reader.

Brett is still at ABC4. He has been looking for a different job, but hasn't found one. I am trying to keep the faith that there is one out there and that our time will come. In the meantime, I am trying to be positive and grateful that we have our jobs in this economy and a way to pay the mortgage and other bills......not to mention, we were able to get pregnant. We sure have been so very blessed.

My mom (from Wyoming) and sister (from Logan) stopped by when I was at work and cleaned my house. It was a huge relief! I have been so tired and sick that all I want to do when I get home is lay down and go to sleep. That's another blessing....my family! They have all been so supportive and helpful during this time.

I have been keeping busy with work and playing some soccer. I believe I have only 3 more games left and then I will be done playing competitive soccer for now. I'll still try to play futsal with the stake and volleyball....and yard work when it starts warming up. Being active keeps my mind off of how sick I am.

We also had Brett's sister Kristin come with her 2 kids, Hannah and Jeramiah (J.J.). It's been nice having them here. Addison is absolutely LOVING having a girl to play with. I wish there were more around for her to play with.

Well, I guess that is all to update as of now. If I ever get really tech-savy, perhaps I will post video....but for now, I will remain tech-challenged. :) Thank you all for your advice, help, support and prayers. We really appreciate it!
