What we've been doing--March edition

Addison has been pretty busy this March. Her cousins Hannah and JJ came to visit from Casper. These are Brett's sister's kids. They came during their spring break. While they were here, Addison wanted to go to the Aerospace Museum at Hill Airforce Base. Here is a picture of Addison and her cousin Hannah.
Here is a picture of Addison, Hannah and JJ. Addison LOVED having Hannah here. She doesn't get a lot of opportunity to play with girls, so to have one here was great for Addison. Brett and I had to work on the Friday they were here. Kristin kept Addison at the house and she and Hannah played all day (except when Addison was at school). Hannah slept in Addison's room at night--it was a fun sleepover. Addison was very sad to have Hannah leave. She continually asks when Hannah will be back.

In school, Addison has been doing a reading program. She has been doing very well. She reads two books a week and once she reads 14 of them, she gets a coupon for a free pizza. She has been very excited to read and at getting the coupon.

Addison has been working hard at dance to prepare for performing at the Utah Jazz pregame show in April. Addison's dance was also given the opportunity to perform at a local company's 1st birthday celebration. It was a good dress rehersal for when they would have to perform at the Jazz game.

At the birthday celebration, Spiderman came. Addison wasn't able to see him when he initially came, but she wanted to see him after she preformed. Here is a picture of him.



Here is Addison before her performance. She did really well. When I figure out how our camcorder works, I will see about getting video posted. The other picture is her waiting to go out onto the floor to perform.

Addison also started soccer today. I had thought that when we signed her up it was only for the fall. As it turns out, it is for the fall and the spring. So we got a call from her coach last night telling us Addison had a game today. I couldn't believe it. Luckily the game was after Addison's dance performance. She was excited to play.

I had another doctor appointment this week. I am now 18 weeks. I will go in on April 13th to my ultra-sound and we decided to find out what it will be. Addison is excited to come and see the baby while it is still in my tummy.

I am done with my soccer teams and several women in our ward are joining a rec volleyball team. It will be fun to play again. It has been a while.

So, that's about it for March. Addison will have a busy April. She will be performing at the Jazz game, performing in a competition at the University of Utah, and performing at a competition at Roy High School. I will be sure to try and get video and of course pictures. :)

Not much to report....

This week I am 15 weeks.....almost 16!! It feels like it is going SOOOO slow. I am still not feeling so great, but have come to accept it and trying to find ways to deal with it. My doctor gave me Zofran and Phenegran. They help a little, but they are not the miracle drugs I thought they would be. :( I go in for my big ultra-sound on April 13th. That's when they do all the measurements and I think we will find out the sex of the baby. I am a planner....what can I say?

Addison was able to be in a play for school. The Kindergarten classes put on the play for the school and their parents. It was very cute. It was called "Leo the Longhorn". They are also learning about cowboys right now, so they did some songs about cowboys and square danced. Addison was a singer and dancer. She sang several songs and she did the square dance. It is so cute to see her up there. I still have a hard time believing she will be 6 this year! Time goes way too fast. She has started a reading program at school. She brings home a reader 2X a week. She loves reading them to us before bedtime. She has become quite the little reader.

Brett is still at ABC4. He has been looking for a different job, but hasn't found one. I am trying to keep the faith that there is one out there and that our time will come. In the meantime, I am trying to be positive and grateful that we have our jobs in this economy and a way to pay the mortgage and other bills......not to mention, we were able to get pregnant. We sure have been so very blessed.

My mom (from Wyoming) and sister (from Logan) stopped by when I was at work and cleaned my house. It was a huge relief! I have been so tired and sick that all I want to do when I get home is lay down and go to sleep. That's another blessing....my family! They have all been so supportive and helpful during this time.

I have been keeping busy with work and playing some soccer. I believe I have only 3 more games left and then I will be done playing competitive soccer for now. I'll still try to play futsal with the stake and volleyball....and yard work when it starts warming up. Being active keeps my mind off of how sick I am.

We also had Brett's sister Kristin come with her 2 kids, Hannah and Jeramiah (J.J.). It's been nice having them here. Addison is absolutely LOVING having a girl to play with. I wish there were more around for her to play with.

Well, I guess that is all to update as of now. If I ever get really tech-savy, perhaps I will post video....but for now, I will remain tech-challenged. :) Thank you all for your advice, help, support and prayers. We really appreciate it!

12 weeks and counting....slowly.....

I am at 12 weeks now. I go in next week for my first real check up. I have still been pretty sick and really hope that it doesn't last much longer. I don't know how much more I can handle having to go to work and being this sick. I am on Reglan right now, but that doesn't seem to really help. I have been given suggestions to ask about another medicine...so I will be asking about it at my next appointment.

Well, enough of that, what has been going on around here? We have also been getting a lot of snow here. I think in the last week we probably got about 2 feet. Addison continues to grow like a weed. She has started a reading program at school where she brings home readers 2 times a week. She is doing really well and is enjoying reading. It is so hard to believe she is getting so big.

Brett has been working at trying to get some freelance work. He got in contact with a friend from Casper to do some work for him. Now, all we need is 12 jobs like this a year and I can quit....but anyone who has done freelance knows it isn't something you can bank on.

That is the update as of now. Nothing too exciting happening around here. :)

Introducing..........Baby #2!!

Today was my first official doctor visit. It was a very welcome one. I have been very anxious to know that everything is alright with the baby and how far along I am....and of course, is the baby due on Addison's birthday?

I will start by saying that on Sunday I woke up and was bleeding a little. It really freaked me out. I called the doctor on call and he said that since I haven't had any heavy bleeding or severe cramping, it is alright, just don't do anything strenuous. I decided to stay home from church since I was already not feeling so good (since I am still pretty sick). I stayed in bed all day and finally when Brett and Addison came back from church, I decided to get up and get ready to go to stake choir....I had to get out of the house, and sitting and singing isn't strenuous. After choir, I was standing up and something very scary happened. Needless to say, there was A LOT of blood. I was extremely scared. Again, the doctor said that since I hadn't had any severe cramping and the blood stopped right away things should be okay. I had Brett give me a blessing and I stayed in bed and decided to call my doctor for an apt first thing in the morning. I got into the nurse practitioner on Monday and she did an ultrasound and found the baby and saw a heartbeat. She said because of that she thought it looked okay and when I go into my regular doctor appointment on Wednesday she can see if there is anything more to be worried about.

On Wednesday, Brett and I went to the doctor for the ultrasound. She said that everything looks good and there is nothing that would cause concern. I had stopped bleeding and the baby was moving and we could see the heartbeat. She measured the baby and found that I am 9 weeks along. My due date is August 30th, which is 10 days after Addison's birthday. Here is a picture of our little "alien peanut", as I lovingly call it.


When everything happened on Sunday, it was great to see how many people in our ward called and talked to us and cared. I am sure that we were so blessed by their prayers. We are excited for the next 31 weeks....although I am sure they will go by way too slow. :)

We're Expecting!!!

So, I guess I better get this posted on our Blog. I am pregnant! It has been a long time in coming, but it is finally here. It still doesn't seem quite real. Monday I went to my first doctor appointment. Because I have Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), my cycle is all messed up, so the doctor and I have no idea how far along I am or when I am due. With today's appointment, the doctor thinks I am about 8-12 weeks. I will not get a 100% for sure idea until the 28th of January when I go in for my ultrasound. I am hoping that all goes well and no complications arise.

Back in 2006, I went on Chlomid to see if that would help me get pregnant, but I didn't even ovulate on a regular basis while on it. So, we stopped that. I just had a feeling that I would get pregnant without all the medical "help". Finally, in November of 2008, I was feeling so icky and I was so sick of my body not feeling "up to par" that I got a referral to an endocrynologist to start the process of trying to figure out what is up. Two Sundays before my appointment, while sitting in Church, during the Sacrament, I had a feeling that "you are pregnant." I thought it was my wishful thinking again, but I decided to take another pregnancy test (I have been taking a test every 3 weeks for the past 3 months) to be able to rule that out when I go to my endocrynologist....however, HUGE surprise, it was positive!! I called my OB and they had me come in to take a test there at their office. It too came back positive. They had me give some blood and I made my appointments.

Like I said earlier, this is so unreal. I still can't believe it has happend and at the same time, I hope and pray that it is real and everything goes well. I know I have many of my family members and their prayers on our behalf to thank, as well as friends. It is amazing how the Lord answers prayers. As it stands now, I will have to go back to work after the baby is born. I hope and pray that something will happen that will allow me to stay home. Thank you all for your love, support and prayers!

Gotta Love that snow!!

I wanted to share some of the fun and festivities that were had by our family in the snow. Addison and her dad played in the snow and made a snow bunny. Addison really likes to work out in the snow with her dad. Last year they made a snow girl and a unicorn. Brett likes to be creative....see for yourself.













A couple days after Christmas, we were able to get a piano from our neighbor's mom. I am so excited to have a piano after 12 years! Needless to say it has been played a lot and Addison is excited to be able to take piano lessons.
That same day we got the piano, our neighbors asked if we wanted to go to the church by their parents to go sledding. Addison was excited. Here are some pictures of her sledding. She kept asking to go on a steeper hill....she's a dare-devil!

Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas! This has definitely been a Christmas to really remember. Addison is at that age that she is really getting into it and understanding what is going on. Here is a picture of the tree.













Here is a picture of her helping Brett put the star on the tree. She really liked looking at the ornaments and talking about why they are each special and who gave them to us and why.

For Christmas Eve, it was always a tradition in my family to go to a movie. We decided as our family to continue that tradition. We went to Bolt. Addison really liked it and Brett and I thought it was pretty funny. After the movie we drove around and looked at Christmas lights. When we got home, we all got in our PJs and read the story of the birth of Jesus Christ from the Bible. After that, we decided to each open one present. It was really nice to be able to spend this special time together as a family.

We thought Addison would be up fairly early on Christmas day. Luckily she didn't get up until 8:30!! She was a very good girl and came into our room and informed us that it was time to go down to see what Santa brought. When she saw what Santa brought her, she fell down by the couch and made some sort of squealing noise. I am guessing that was her squeal of approval. :)












Here are some pictures of her opening up her presents. Brett and I gave her clothes and shoes because she is growing like a weed. She opened up her new school shirts and said, "More clothes?" I had to laugh. I told her that she is really blessed to have so many clothes and she said, "yes, I am." We had a nice quiet Christmas at home with just the three of us. It was really windy outside and cold, so we didn't try to venture outside. We stayed inside and played with our new presents and watched Kung-Fu Panda and Anastasia.






Here is the picture we take each Christmas with all the presents. Addison had a great day and we had a good time as a family. We were planning on leaving right after we opened presents and drive to Casper to surprise both sets of grandparents, but because the weather was so bad, we decided not to. We ended up getting almost a foot of snow between Christmas night and the day after. At least we were able to be together as a family to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
