So Very Blessed!!

So, I have been thinking a lot lately of writing down my thoughts of the past 17 months and my feelings about what my family and I have gone through. Every time I think about the frustrations and stresses that we've gone through, one thing keeps coming to my mind: "we have been so very blessed!" No, Brett still hasn't found a job yet, but I know he will. It probably won't be in the way that I think he should (you know, because I know best) but it will be what our Father in Heaven KNOWS is best for us.

First, before I get into any sappy-ness, here are the last pictures to bring my family up to speed:

Addison's 7th Birthday

The Friday after Addison started 2nd grade, she turned 7. She is getting so big! We only do friend parties on the even years, so this year was just a family party. Addison decided she wanted to go to Boondocks. Addison got in free because it was her birthday and Brett got a pass and I went and hung out with Paige and took pictures. Addison loved the water boats. She likes getting wet and getting others wet. Addison had a lot of fun driving in the go-karts and of course, playing Laser Tag. She would have made her Papa Howard proud with her putting abilities. And she finally got a KEN barbie doll....she just had to have a boy. :) It was great celebrating with her and watching her have fun. She is such a joy in our family.

Paige's 1st Birthday

Paige turned 1 the day after Addison turned 7....a crazy couple of days, but a lot of fun. We did a little family party Saturday afternoon. Terra and Josh (sister and brother-in-law) and their son Benjamin came as well as my brother Trevor and his 3 boys and of course my mom. It was a lot of fun watching her try and decide if she wanted to eat her cake. Brett decorated her little cake and Paige loved putting her hands in it and squishing it. There is a picture below that is fairly funny, because in the far side of it, you can see Paige's cousin, Benjamin, stealing some cake off her tray. :) It was a lot of fun to celebrate a day with our little Paige. We are so blessed to have her in our family.

Addison has taken to being a photographer. Here are some of the pictures she has taken as well as some misc ones. Just so cute....when they aren't throwing a fit, of course. ;)

As of today, Brett has had 37 interviews, applied for 309 jobs, traveled over 2,000 miles for interviews, received 1 "almost" job offer and has received 0 job offers that we can financially afford to accept. There have been several jobs that we both felt were a "perfect fit", but no call back. He's had a lot of people tell him that they really liked his work....just not enough to give him the job. But I know there is a job out there. A job that may not fulfill the requirements that I think it should or even enable me to be a stay at home mom, but I know whatever we are blessed with, it will be what is right for our family.

Will I ever be able to stay home and be a stay-at-home mom? I don't know. The fact that Brett has been able to be the one home with the girls developing an invaluable relationship with them is something that very few fathers have the opportunity to have and I am very grateful for that.

So, how can I keep going on after 17 months of disappointment after disappointment? I guess when I look back on these last months, I don't focus on the negative. I don't want to slight the frustrations and discouragements that we have faced, but I think if I were to focus so much on all the negative, I would be bitter, miserable and depressed. The thing that has kept me going is my knowledge that I know that my Heavenly Father knows me and my family and exactly what we need. So, with everything that comes our way, I know Heavenly Father knows what He's doing and knows what I need to grow and become stronger. I also know that He has sent people to help me get through and deal with things. He has sent me a great husband and 2 great girls that help me. All I have to do is look at their pictures on my desk at work when I'm having a horrible day and they give me strength. He's also sent me a great family, great neighbors and great friends.

Have these last 17 months been hard? Yeah, sure they have. Have they been worth it? Of course! I don’t know how I could even begin to quantify how this has affected our family—in the best of ways, of course. Here are just a few of the blessings that I have seen in our family's lives:

• Our family is healthy--yes, some colds here and there, but nothing serious
• We have great family support--my mom and sister have been down so many times to help us out and see the girls, my dad has taken Brett out golfing several times, my brother-in-law hangs out with Brett and is able get him out of the house and do things other than watch the girls and look for jobs and my other brother, Trevor and his wife, Jen, have been so great to watch Addison when Paige was born and to come up and support us
• We have great neighbor/friend/ward support--there is such a great concentration of amazing people around us here in Clearfield. We love it here!
• I have a good job
• I am able to be physically active
• We have dependable cars
• We are able to serve in the church
• We are able to give back to those who are less fortunate than we are
• We are able to use our talents to help those around us as well as help build the Kingdom of God
• Brett has been able to be home with the girls, developing a relationship and bond they will have forever
• We are able to attend the temple
• We are able to meet all of our financial obligations—thanks to a budget and savings plan—and not have to go into debt
• Brett is able to give me blessings when I need them
• My brothers have been able to give Brett blessings when he needed them
• Brett honors the priesthood and is able to bless the lives of all those in our family
• Brett was not seriously hurt in his accident
• We have strong testimonies of the Gospel of Jesus Christ
• We have a Father in Heaven who knows what we need and loves us
• We are blessed with 2 beautiful girls who are so much fun
• I have a great husband who loves me and loves our girls

There are so many more that I can't think of right now, but I know I will as soon as I post this.

Thank you to all who have prayed on our behalf, who have helped watch the girls when Brett goes on interviews, who have helped with taking Addison to and from school, who talk to us when we need to talk, who have invited us to your house to hang out and have fun, who invite Addison over for play dates and do so much more for our family. You are all loved and those little thoughtless acts that you preform on behalf of our family are much appreciated! We truly are so very blessed!

The Meanderings of a World Traveler....kind of....

Since the end of April, we've had a lot of things going on with our family. Like my last post, I will talk a little about each thing....hopefully this post won't get too long, but I'm not too hopeful on that.

Orlando, Florida

Dannon has a soccer tournament every 2 years to pick a men's and a woman's soccer team to go and represent the USA at the Danone World Cup (Dannon is owned by Danone--a French company). This year the US tournament happened to be in Orlando, Florida at Disney World. My company paid for me to go as well as the hotel room, so we decided to bring the family. It was Addison's first time on an airplane, as well as Paige...and it was our first actual family vacation--a vacation that doesn't involve seeing family. The girls did so well! Paige slept a majority of the plane ride, both going and coming. We had a lot of time and made a lot of memories. Here are some of the pictures at Magic Kingdom. We went to the Magic Kingdom on Thursday and Friday. The first night we were there, Wednesday, we decided to do a little walk around the area we were staying at. We went into the gift shop there in the hotel to get Addison an autograph book and the lady at the cash register asked Addison if she wanted to be an honorary cashier. Addison LOVED it! She got to scan the merchandise, take my money and work the computer to enter in the payment. She was pretty excited about that. She also got a "1st Visit" button to wear around. Everyone said "hi" and welcome to her while we walked around the parks. It was a lot of fun for her to feel so special.
Saturday was the soccer tournament. It was HOT and HUMID. My friend from Casper, Wendy Marshall and her 2 kids, live in Orlando and we saw them a couple times while we were there. She said that according to the heat index it was over 100 degrees! I don't mind playing in the heat so much, but that humidity sucks everything out of you! We ended up playing 7 games that day! The games are only 2, 15 minute halves on smaller fields, but still exhausting. My team actually won. I really couldn't believe it. I had really mixed emotions about winning...it would mean I would go to Greece without my girls...especially Paige, seeing that she would be 10 months when I left. When we won, we got to go up front and shake Mickey's hand and even get a picture with him....how nice! ;)

It was a really nice sports complex that Disney World has and the tournament was very well organzied. It was a lot of fun and especially neat to see our CEO (who is from Argentina) play....and he's got some skills. It is great to work for a company that invests in its employees like Dannon does. Our CFO (he's also a pretty good player....and French) was there. I have been able to work with him one on one before---he came over and talked to me and my family and not only remembered my first name (and pronounced it right), but my last name as well and remembered that I had a baby. It's really great that even though I don't work with our CFO on a daily basis or even a monthly basis, he knows my name and took the time to talk to my family.

The next day we went to Epcot. Wendy ended up coming to Epcot and spending some time with us. It was good to see her and catch up. I haven't seen her since 1997!! Thanks for coming, Wendy! It was good to see you! Addison, we found out, is an adrenaline junkie. She LOVED space mountain as well as Test Track at Epcot. She's crazy.....just like her mom. :)

I guess I should note that this day was Brett and I's 12th wedding anniversary! It was a lot of fun to spend it there. We were given some "I'm Celebrating" buttons and they wrote 12th Anniversary on it. So many people wished us a happy anniversary. It was a lot of fun to spend the day with my family that started 12 years ago in the Manti temple where I was able to be sealed to my best friend for time and all eternity. It is a great knowledge to have to know that we can be together forever as a family. It was really neat to spend that special day with our little family.


We left to come home on Monday. We didn't leave until about 2pm so we decided to go to Downtown Disney to do a little shopping in the morning. Addison saw this place on our first night in Orlando where you can pick the oyster and get the pearl inside. I told her that if that is still what she wanted on the last day we were there, we would get it. So, it was still what she had her heart set on, so that is what she got. She loves her pearl. It ended up being a really nice one too. Here are some pictures we took while walking around Downtown Disney.

I loved being together as a family at Disney World, but I must say, that my favorite is still Disney Land...I guess the shear size of Disney World is probably what I didn't like...also all the Jazzies! Holy Cow, I think 90% of their sales are made to FL residents....and Disney World. Also, I like that California is a lot closer. :)


Hoggle Zoo

We went to Hoggle Zoo with my sister and brother-in-law and their son (Terra, Josh and Benjamin). It was a lot of fun. It was my first time there. I even lived right next to it when Brett was going to school at the U for a year and never made it over there. Oh well. It was fun to be there with the girls and my fav sister. :) Paige had fun...at least I think she did. I know Addison did.

Memorial Day--Boise, ID

We decided to go and visit Blake and Trish (brother and sister-in-law) in Boise, Idaho over Memorial Day Weekend. We don't get to see them all that often and they come down to see us all the time, so we decided to go see them. Addison had a great time with her cousin, Lincoln. He's so adorable! It was great to see them and have fun with them. We got a baby-sitter and went to Iron Man II. The day we left, we went to this kid play place there in Boise. The kids had a lot of fun. Thanks Blake & Trish...and Lincoln!!

Danone World Cup--Athens, Greece

In June I went to Athens to take part in the Danone World Cup. It was a great experience that I was able to take part in. Like the Dannon US tournament, it was all paid for. We were going to have Brett come with me, but a plane ticket alone was $2000! :( Hopefully we will be able to get back in that area some other time. This is my 3rd Danone World Cup. The first one that I went to was in 2006 in Portugaul and the 2nd one was in 2008 in Miami, FL. This one, by far, was at the neatest place....at least to me. :)

We left Wednesday from SLC at 8:30AM and got into Athens Thursday morning at 11:00 AM...you loose 9 hours going there. When we got there Thursday we went sight seeing around Athens. We, of course, went to the Pantheon. I love history, so it was really cool to go and see something that was built in the 4th century BC! It is for sure a neat experience to stand in an area that people have been standing in for over 2400 years! We also drove by the Olympic stadium where they have been running at since some of the earliest Olympics. When Athens hosted the 2004 Olympics, they ended many of their Marathons in that stadium. We also saw the Acropolis as well as a temple built to Zeus. There was also a mount right by the Pantheon where Paul came to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of Athens.

The next day, we went on an adventure through the Athen's public transportation system to the beach. The beach was not what I had expected. I'm not a big "sit in a swimsuit out in the hot sun" kind of person, so I went mainly for the ride. One person in our party had her wallet stolen. Below are some pictures I took around Athens and the view from my hotel room. I felt very claustrophobic there. Buildings on top of buildings crammed together. Definitely not the wide open spaces of Wyoming or Utah. Also, it was a very dirty city with graphiti everywhere. It was quite sad to see a place with such an historic significance in such a state. Luckily there were not riots or anything like that while we were there. Me and 2 girls from my soccer team did go for a jog around Athens on Friday. Let me tell you, the air there is horrible. I guess at the Pantheon they were saying they were having a hard time preserving the monument because of the acid rain there because of the pollution. Saturday was the first day of the tournament. We played 3 games that day. We played Italy, Greece and Holland. We won 2 of the games and tied the 3rd. Below are some of the pictures of us going into the stadium....we drove and drove through town and down what I would consider back alleys and into a shady part of town and then into an industrial part and then all of a sudden there was a soccer facility. It was surrounded by high fences and....razor wire...yes....razor wire..I kind of felt like we were going to play in the fields of a prison....I half expected them to shut and lock the gates behind me after we entered the field. There were also security cameras. I had to laugh to myself as well as with my team mates on this one. The pictures below also have some of the lunch and my team mates as well as the US men's team.
After that day's playing they took us to an outdoor stadium for some authentic Greek food and Greek music and some Greek dancers. The music reminded me a lot of My Big Fat Greek Wedding. They eat a lot of lamb in Greece. Never tasted lamb, so that was definitely different for me. They also eat a lot of cheese. It was good....I think I would have loved it if this was in Italy a little more, though. :)The next day, we played Mexico first and suffered our first defeat. After that, we played Russia. Talk about being physical without really trying to play the ball. It was a frustrating game that ended in a 0-0 tie. With that, we were ranked a little lower than we had hoped. We would end up having to play an extra game because of it. We ended up playing France. We beat them 2-0 and then went on to play Spain. They scored in the last few minutes of play. Again, very frustrating. And our soccer playing came to an end. We ended up being ranked 9 out of 50 women's teams. Below are the pictures from our Spain game. It is a really neat experience talking with people from other countries who are all together for a common purpose and all have a link together through our work. I have had the fortunate experience to make friends with several people from other countries. The girls from Germany are really nice and also great to be around. I have also been able to make friends with some girls from France as well as England. At the tournament, we were given 4 jerseys. I kept one for myself and traded the other 3. Brett wanted England this year, so I got him England (he got Ireland and Italy on the other trips). I wanted a Germany one so I traded with them and then I traded with Holland. I can now add those to my collection along with New Zealand (which I gave to my dad since that is where he served), Mexico, France and Malaysia.

After all the games were played, they took a break between the games and the Finals. They played a small 3V3 game. Frank Riboud, the CEO of Danone, played in it. His picture is below. He's also a pretty good player. After that, they had the women's final. It was Mexico Water division VS Mexico Yogurt division. The Mexico Water division won. Next was the men's final. It was Brazil VS Spain. Spain won. It was the most interesting game I have ever watched. NO ONE cheered for Brazil, they played so dirty. It was a very bizzare game that was uncomfortable to watch because of how dirty it was and we are always told that we are playing in the spirit of fair-play. But, as our coach said, "we could have sold tickets to this game and made some good money". It was a pretty good game with some pretty impressive soccer......especially when you consider we're all a bunch of yogurt pushers.

After all that excitement, there was a big party at a night club on the beach. Me and a few of the guys from the Men's team (they were from West Jordan, UT) left right after we ate--not wanting to be apart of the whole alcohol scene. I find it very sad that in order for these people to feel like they are having a good time, there needs to be drinking involved. I was missing my family so much. Below is the sign that Addison made me when I got home. She made it all by herself and it was wonderful! I was so glad to get home. It was a very long flight. We left at 11 pm Sunday night, SLC time and I didn't get home and into bed until 1:30 am Tuesday morning...I think I slept a total of 2 hours. I was EXHAUSTED! It's always good to be home!

4th of July--Casper, Wyoming

A few days after I got back from Athens, we packed back up and went to Casper for the 4th. Everyone in my family was there except for 2 brothers and their families. It is always so much fun to hang out with my family. It was too short and I can't wait until we can all get together again. Paige began to crawl at her Nanna Howard's house. She also took a bath in my mom's infamous kitchen sink. Each grandchild takes a bath in this sink...it's nice and deep and so much fun. :) I also have other pictures of Paige below in her AWESOME BYU onsie....GO COUGARS....she bleeds blue like her mom. :)

Below are some misc pictures of Addison and her faces...her puppy dog eyes, her crazy face and just her cute faces. She is so much fun and I am so glad she is a part of our family. Paige is below with her cousin Benjamin. They have a lot of fun together. Benjamin likes to get down and crawl with her. They are 11 months apart but will be in the same grade in school.Well, that's all that I can think of for now...of course, the girls just had their birthdays and Addison just had her first day of school. I will get those pictures up sometime.

Brett is doing well at home with the girls. He would, of course, like to be working, but we are trying to enjoy the place we are at. We have so much to be thankful for. I have a good job, Brett is able to stay home with the girls and develop a relationship with them. It's now been 16 months since Brett lost his job. We have been so blessed in the last 16 months....but that is an entire post all by itself. Thank you to all of you who remember us in your prayers and think of us and help watch the girls when Brett needs help. I hope that we aren't traveling anywhere for the next couple of months....I have a lot of things to get done here. :)

Where has the year gone????

It's now August 2010....where has the year gone?? Brett lost his job back in April of 2009, we had Paige in August and Addison started 1st grade, among other things. Since I last wrote in February, our family has been busy. Here are some of the things the Stagg Family has been doing:

Living Planet Aquarium
We were able to go to the Living Planet Aquarium over Addison's spring break. Addison had a great time there. It was neat to see the penguins up close. Paige had a fun time too. She loves her big sister!

Micheal Buble
Brett got me tickets to Micheal Buble for Christmas. This was my first concert and it was AWESOME! Buble is definitely good at what he does. It was a fun date. It was our first real date since Paige was born. Thank you, mom, for coming and watching the girls!

Disney on Ice
We went to Disney on Ice as a fun "date" with Addison. She has been such a good big sister and has done so well with her. She is definitely a princess!

Easter & Misc.
Here are the girls' Easter dresses. Didn't get them taken on Easter....a little hard when you have to be to church at 8:40am....and you're not a morning person. I also thought it would be fun to get a picture of Paige with a CLEAN diaper on her head. She thought it was pretty funny too. :)

Antelope Island & more Misc.
Addison and Brett went to Antelope Island with a good friend from Casper and her son. they had a good time there. Glad I wasn't there....Brett informed me how many spiders there were. I absolutely HATE spiders. They give me the heebee-geebees!! The pictures of Paige with a bow in her hair was the first day we could actually get her hair in a pony tail....we couldn't do that with Addison's hair until she was a year old.

Lots to catch up on........

So, it's been quite a while since I last blogged and I must say there has been a lot going on with our family! So, I apologize for all the pictures that you will see and for the length. I will try to be better at posting at least once a month. :)

Oh! and by the way....I will be taking my blog private....seems like the hip thing to do now adays, so if you want to continue viewing this gem of a blog, please leave your email address.

Here is Paige at 2 months old. Just such a cute picture, I had to share.

Addison had a crazy hair day at school in October. Here are a couple of pictures of her hair. I think me trying to do her hair crazy actually turned out pretty cute...maybe I should try to do her hair crazy more often. :)

At the end of October, we were able to go to Great Grandma Stagg's house. She turned 95!! Some of her great neighbors had a birthday party for her. We decided to just show up and surprise her. She said that us showing up was the best birthday present. She was able to see her 6th great grandchild. It was fun and we are grateful we were able to go.
After Great Grandma Stagg's birthday was Halloween. Addison went as a cheerleader and later revised it to be a vampire cheerleader, because she wanted something scary. There is a picture below of her with her teeth. Paige was a pumpkin...thanks to the outfit Nana Howard bought Addison when she was Paige's age. That's the one nice thing about Addison and Paige being born at the same time....clothes are in the right size at the right season. :)

Of course, Halloween wouldn't be Halloween without Brett's pumpkins. This year he did Hannah Montana for Addison and Achmed the Dead Terrorist.....I KEEEEL YOU!!!

The nice thing about Paige being blessed November 1st is that the family that was able to come and be here for Halloween and were able to go trick-or-treating with Addison. They had a good time.

So, as I mentioned before, Brett was the victim of a car crash....his own. He was on his way to a job interview. He was traveling straight and a lady in a big van turned left into him....the light was green....Brett was in a car that is usually visible from the road--last time I checked white cars don't blend into the pavement...but for some reason, she didn't see him and hit him. Now, you wouldn't think one would get enough speed going while taking a left turn to do much damage....but she did over $13,000 worth of damage to our car. :( Unfortunately, it was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. Here are pictures of our sad car. As frustrating as the situation was, Brett was not hurt. I am grateful he was inspired to take this car because it has side curtain airbags and I know that if it didn't have that, he would have been in much more pain or received much worse injuries. Enjoy the carnage!

Now to happier things. Paige was blessed by her daddy on November 1st. Here is one of the only pictures we got of her on her actual blessing day. Here Aunt Terra (my sister) is holding her.

In November, we hosted Thanksgiving at our house...there were 14 people here (Brett's family and my sister and her husband and baby boy)....we've had over 27 here for Thanksgiving in 2008....so this was a pretty quiet Thanksgiving compared the that one. :)

On Saturday we were able to meet my brother, Sean and his family and go to Temple Square. Addison loves playing with her cousins. Here she is with Heather and Kara.
I think I figured out that this is our first actual family photo...never got one in the hospital or when we got home or on Paige's blessing day....and you can't even see Paige....oh well...she's the one in the stroller all nice and warm.
After Thanksgiving, we put up the tree. Here is Brett helping Addison put up the star. She was so excited to help decorate.
We finally got our gingerbread houses made this year. It was a lot of fun to make them from scratch the way my mom did. I cut them out and even used the melted sugar to put them together....Terra and I had a great time putting the houses together and getting sugar burns. Talk about some bonding! We were giggling so much, I am surprised we didn't get more burns....Needless to say, some of the gingerbread houses could never pass a housing inspection... Here is Addison decorating her house and one with her by the finished masterpiece. It was a lot of fun! Terra and Josh were there to laugh and have fun with us.

Some friends of ours invited us up to Logan to go to a play. It was sooo much fun. The play was put on by a theater company called Pickleville Playhouse. They usually perform at Bear Lake in the summer and come to Logan for some shows around Christmas. We are planning a family vacation to Bear Lake this summer and we want to go see them again! Here is Addison with Santa. This was our first date with just mommy, daddy and Addison and no Paige. I think Addison needed some just her and parents time....she's done very well adjusting and we wanted to give her some special time.
Now is time for Christmas....at the end of November, we were able to get another car. After a lot of analysis, comparisons and haggling, we decided on a Honda (imagine that!). We got a CR-V. It's a 4WD vehicle that is large enough to fit 3 car seats and has good cargo room. We are very glad we got it because we got to Casper the Tuesday before Christmas and it started snowing right when we got there and didn't stop until Sunday morning when we left. We figured it dumped about 1ft 6inchs!

Here are some pictures of the festivities. Addison got a Hannah Montana dress up kit and LOVED it! I got a cricut and then I noticed something on the tree....being the snoop I am, I took them off the tree and said, "Wow! Who got the Michael Buble tickets?!". I looked at Brett and he just smiled. I am excited to go in March! I've got a great hubby! Brett got some speakers for his computer, a sonic care toothbrush and some other misc. things.

It is so much fun spending time with my family. Everyone but my brother Trevor and Dustin were able to make it. It was a FULL house with 12 adults, 6 kids, 2 babies and 2 dogs but so much fun. We stayed up so late every night playing games and just enjoying being together. I wish we could get together a lot more often as an entire family. We have so much fun. I am so thankful for the temple and the fact that my parents were sealed together, which means all of us will be able to be together forever!

Addison was also able to start rice cereal after she turned 4 months. We are still trying to get the hang of it....here are some of her messy pictures. :)

So, that is about all for the pictures. Paige will be 6 months in a couple of weeks!! I can't believe how big she is getting. She is rolling over (not too much), but she is learning. :)

Brett still hasn't been able to find anything in the job area. He has been unemployed now for 10 months. He has applied for about 175 jobs and has had about 17 interviews....luckily we are in a financial position that it hasn't been hard financially on us. We have for sure been blessed through this all.

I started back to work the day after Paige's blessing. I am grateful that I have a job, but it is still hard to leave my girls everyday. Brett is being an AWESOME stay-at-home dad. He is so good with Paige and really helps Addison with all her school work.

Well, that is all I can think of. I will probably think of more right after I post this...but for now, this should suffice. :)
